Mamey

Mamey is fruit typical of Mexico, is a cousin of the Avocado (also a fruit) and very very sweet.

When it's ripe (you need an expert to tell you because the hardness is difficult to tell due to its hard skin) you will experience a great flavor, a blend between Papaya and Banana but not quite any of those two as Mamey posses fibers in the pulp.

The fruit is great alone, but can be consumed in "licuados" (smoothies with milk and vanilla) or in Ice Cream.

¡Buen provecho!

El Huarache Azteca

This is really an institution, this restaurant specializes in "Huaraches" which literally means: "sandals". This are elongated tortillas with refried bean paste inside and you put anything on top, like a chicken breast or a couple of sunny eggs, or maybe mole con pollo, or if your budget is low or you hunger is not big enough then a huarache solo (plain) would be.

This restaurant is located near the Mercado de Jamaica, one of the largest markets devoted to fresh flowers in México city. The place is a breakfast and lunch option only, as they are open only from 7:30 through 15:00 Tuesday to Sunday. If you go early be prepared for a loooooong wait, they are very popular, eventhough there are 3 other restaurants selling huaraches.

El Pastorcito de Boturini

Extremely popular tacos near Jardin Balbuena neigborhood.

On weekends the place is so crowded that walking is difficult and traffic is bad, just because of this taqueria.
Take a look on the salsa bowls, there are to huge sets (plus the individual at each table) that are refilled over the night to serve the four (read it right 4) huge "trompos" of al Pastor meat, they start serving around 3 or 4 in the afternoon and finish by 5 or 6 in the morning, Amazing!!!
