Calakmul, Campeche

Otra visita a este santuario y sitio arqueológico.
Por su ubicación - 60 km de la carretera - está aún aislado de la civilización y ojalá se mantenga así por un largo tiempo.


Perfectamente camuflajeado con la piedras, este pequeño amigo no se mostró temeroso, pero sí lo sufientemente prudente.
Al contraste con el follaje es más visible.
La última pose, pero el estar demasiado cerca le incomó y emprendió la graciosa retirada.

Balamku, Campeche

Un muy pequeño sitio arqueologico y poco conocido.
Pero alberga un gran tesoro cultural, un maravilloso "Friso" hecho de estuco y por suerte bien preservado gracias a las previsiones de sus constructores.

Para llegar a este lugar, se parte de Escárcega, Campeche y se maneja cerca de una hora (la carretera ha sido remodelada y está en excelentes condiciones)  hay muy buena señalización y está a menos de un kilómetro antes de la entrada a la zona arqueológica de Calakmul.

Laguna de Bakalar

Lugar paradisiaco por definición.

La vida salvaje aún prolifera en la zona.

Basaltic rock columns

In Santa Maria Regla, near Huasca -one of the "Magic Towns" of México- in the State of Hidalgo.
This magma cooled so fast in the surface of earth that the contraction formed geometric columns.
The shape of the rocks was dictated by the molecule's geometric array and their cohesion.

 This flowers are called "bandera Española" (Spanish Flag) because of their colors. These are very attractive both to humans and to hummingbirds.

Smogcity from the air

The approach to the valley of the ethernal smog you may be rewarded with the view of the volcanos Izta and Popo.













Too high for a good landing, traffic gets so bad that planes has to circle the valley to land.













You really need to be high in the air to see the volcanoes some days.
