Contrastes con una semana de diferencia

Al regresar al DF en viernes santo, se puede ve la ciudad, no perfectamente clara, pero se ve.

El Paseo de la Reforma tiene forma y el castillo de Chapultepec es reconocible.

Al volver al DF de nuevo, una semana después, en domingo último de vacaciones escolares, ya a las 7:30 de la mañana es terrible la diferencia, me costó trabajo entender que este es el mismo paisaje en un día que supuestamente es de descanso y que aún no han salido a las calles muchos coches, guuuuuacala

Mexico city on Easter

Easter means a big holliday in Mexico and lots of people from Smogcity leave the valley to go on vacations. The city does not get deserted (unfortunately) but at least the traffic is much more tranquile and the pollution levels go very low, in this days it's a pleasure to see the city from the plane.

First picture the "Bosque de Chapultepec" the main park of the city

Second picture is the "Paseo de la Reforma" with the monument to the Independence clearly visible.

Third picture is the WTC-Mexico, the building is shinning and the surrounding area looks truly nice with a clear sky and very reduced amount of smog.

Festival Cultural Zacatecas

Como cada año, en la Plaza de Armas de la ciudad de Zacatecas, se realiza el Festival Cultura con música de todo género y la plaza se llena de color y grandes espectáculos.

En serio, el cielo sí es azul...

... en la Ciudad de México ya estamos tan acostumbrados a que la contaminación es tan densa que nuestro cielo es gris o cafe-gris y ya ni lo notamos......

..hasta el día que los vientos y la lluvia limpian la atmósfera y nos damos cuenta que lo que tenemos arriba es un cielo azul impresionante.

En verdad que el valle de México era esplendoroso antes de la contaminación, se podían ver los volcanes nevados desde casi cualquier ángulo del valle. Y es una vista impactante y bellisima.

Esta vista fue durante enero-febrero de 2010, después de una lluvia que no cesó en un par de días.

The Day After

Un día después, nos bastó a los habitantes para volver a oscurecer totalmente el cielo, estas fotos son tomadas menos de 24 horas después que las anteriores y ya NO se ven los volcanes, que trágico.

El cielo SÍ es azul sobre la ciudad de México, pero no siempre podemos verlo.

En enero 2010 hubo varios días de viento fuerte y despejó todo lo que los "esfuerzos" del "hoy no circula" ha podido.

It may look like Devil's Tower from the movie "Close Encounters of the Third kind" but this is a massive boulder of solid rock, the 3rd monolyth (single pieced) in size in all the world.

 
 
 The "peñon" attracts many tourists and the town at it's foot is very picturesque.

 

Atardecer en Monterrey

Volando para abandonar Monterrey me tocó ver un excelente atardecer, como diría uno de mis buenos amigos (El Arriola) Guuuuuuuuuauuuuuuu, dijo el perro.

Street View in Mexico city

Finally, after drooling over other cities in the world having their streets digitalized in Google Street View, finally we are going to get digital by the begining of 2009.

This cars started in September 2008 to go around the city taking digital views of the streets. I'm so exited!
